I was i n an accident in my fiance's blazer that my sister was driving when we flipped 4-5 times. I was the only person injured and have permanent facial scaring and back and neck problems. I have had 3 catscans since and my insurance has stopped paying my bills and now want to close the claim Tuesday. What is a good offer to settle with? What should I expect for an auto claim for facial scaring and back and neck problem?
This is a difficult situation to determine given that there is no determination of whether or not you will be unable to function normally or how long such restrictions might apply.
If you have legal council it is best to have them represent you in this matter...dealing with an insurance company normally means that they will settle for far less than you may need in order to pay for current and upcoming medical expenses.
Cosmetic surgery for the scarring (if this route is taken) can run into the thousands alone, repetitive physio can also become costly. Should you be permanently affected by the neck and back injuries or should any surgery be required now or in the future...the claim should be dealt with to recognize these possibilities.
Ask for more than you need and settle for less...but don't go below the amount that you and your lawyer have determined is adequate.
The insurance will probably balk but that is the game that they play. If you go this alone with no council...be prepared to struggle through any settlement and expect it to be dragged out...their main goal will be to deplete you of funds so that further pursuance is doubtful. Stick to it and fight for what you will need to get you back to a functional life.
Good luck with this. What should I expect for an auto claim for facial scaring and back and neck problem?
Get a lawyer because you are not going to get anywhere near what you should. I would settle without having a lawyer present.
