Can severe facial bruising result in swollen ankles?

My aunty in her 50's recently took a fall and hit her face, and knees quite badly. She has severe facial bruising and swelling, but won't go to the doctors. Another symptom she has is swollen ankles... could that be a complication?Can severe facial bruising result in swollen ankles?

Not likely, but it could be related to the cause of the fall.





Ankle swelling can be caused by Congestive Heart Failure, which is NOT the same as heart attack. It can also be caused by high blood pressure.





CHF is about the heart function being limited and insufficient to draw all the blood up from the extremities. The blood that pools in the ankles releases water into the surrounding tissues. If CHF goes untreated it can result in worse symptoms.





Tell her to go to the doctor ASAP and be honest about her history of ankle swelling.
you need to keep her feet elevated for swelling, it sounds like a circulation issue. vasoline for the bruises is the best thing. If ankle swelling not down by Monday, go to doctor.
You and another close person to her take her to the doctors even if she doesn't want to go. Try real hard to talk her into it..
