Do you assume someone with a mustache or goatee or even a beard is less intelligent? How come no presidential candidates have facial hair?
I think Hillary has a tiny little mustache. How come no presidential candidates have facial hair?
It's the style now. Facial hair among professionals is typically a ';no-no';. American seems to prefer that clean cut, quasi-military look.
I remember that when JFK stopped wearing hats, the rest of the nation followed his lead and soon men's hats became a thing of the past, ending a tradition that had last many, many years.
I'll take Poor Assumptions for $600, Alex. Having facial hair has nothing to do with intelligence. Politics requires good looks and a certain stature in addition to the ability to speak well and to have a brain capable of making good decisions. Stack up Dennis Kucinich to Mitt Romney, for example. (fyi, I don't like either candidate) Who would get more votes? Mitt, because he is tall, articulate, neat, well spoken. Dennis is a little dweeb. Facial hair just makes a professional look a little more goofy. That's why most white collar jobs are held by clean-cut people. Even the Yankees ban it, and many police, military orgs. too.
forty-two
they all work for disney.
They shave.
They do not like it, I do not so why not them, it is uncomftible
No, whether or not someone has facial hair has no bearing on their intelligence or their ability to lead.
Hillary has facial hair. She just shaves well.
No, it's because they all shave. Even Hillary?? lol
Because people think people with facial hair are more ruggade and not as professional. A clean cut look is in fashion for the political look.
Mrs. Clinton does.
Because Americans are dumb where if they see a candidate with a facial hair they will think he's : dirty, ex hippie, shaddy, doesn't take care of himself how will he take care of the country. It's a job interview for them. Its sad but that's how people think.
These are the questions I used to love coming on here and reading. I think facial hair just throws some people off. Their advisors must tell them to cut it off.
Probably has a lot to do with current style and fashion. Lots of Presidents had beards when it was stylish to have them.
facial hair in this country is a sign of an unkept appearance.
A good correlating question is, when is the last time you say a leading actor in a comedy sitcom with a beard.
In essence, that's all politicians are anyway.
They are all androids who are mass produced by the ';man'; who really controls us
Probably has to do with looking more youthful or something like that. It could also be that they haven't gotten out of the habit of shaving.
They all have it. The males shave it down so its not noticeable and Hillary, as with most females, has facial hair that is so fine as to be nearly undetectable (at a distance).
The answer to your question is that candidates need to look like their constituents want them to look. Now days, clean shaven is in fashion.
Look closer Hilary has a mustache
Billary has a moustache. She just bleaches it for the camera.
You overlooked Hillary. She sports a rather fetching mustache.
Its a cultural thing. I think it goes back to the sixties when beards and mustaches were only worn by hippies. Still, in the US, people like to see their politicians with a close shave. the last guy who did well was Sonny Bono, but he had an established and recognizable image prior to running for office.
