i am a MtF transgender so i was wondering. if hightening estrogen will not reduce facial hair, will lowering testosterone reduce it?They say estrogen does not reduce facial hair, but if i lowered my testosterone will it reduce?
Although it doesn't reduce facial hair, what you do have will usually grow more slowly.
Oh and HRT does reduce your testosterone levels. That's the whole point of HRT: To reverse the hormone balance in your body.
edit: The only was to eliminate facial hair is electrolysis and/or laser treatment. If you did electro alone: Most people need 150-250 hours of electrolysis. Many people start with laser and then switch to electro to finish up.They say estrogen does not reduce facial hair, but if i lowered my testosterone will it reduce?
Hormones DO change the texture of your hair, but no, lowering testosterone doesn't change the actual fact of facial hair, if you've been exposed to testosterone at all. Once you've had testosterone and developed facial hair, it's kind of been ';turned on';, so to speak. It won't go away, even if you have no more testosterone than is normal for a woman (this is why transmen retain facial hair even if they go off T for a while).
I think vocal chords and hair growth are the two permanent offenders of testosterone... Lowering your testosterone will perhaps slow the growth... but I think hair removal processes are your only real option...
If you start on a T blocker, then yeah, you will experience a little facial hair loss. Not that it will fall out, but when you shave it or do laser or whatever it won't grow back as much.
once the hair has grown there is no hormonal ways to remove it. you are looking at laser removal systems to give you the most effective treatment. hormones are not an effective means of modification of this feature.
If you can't use the hormone things.. Try the e-pen. It will remove the hair permanently. You can also use it on your legs, arm-pits, etc.
